Events for 2010

Salterns Boatyard has announced that Goldfish Boat’s flagship, the Goldfish 36P1 Super Sport RIB will be entering the greatly anticipated 2012 Round Britain Race. This follows their success in the 2008 race where the 36 emphatically won her class, breaking the record for the fastest RIB around Britain along the way. General Manager of Salterns Boatyad and member of the record breaking 2008 team, James Sydenham will once again take part, alongside the father and son duo, Stuart and Steven Munro of Nautic Marine Services in Poole, the new owners of the Goldfish 36 having moved up from a Goldfish 29.

Salterns Boatyard has launched the new Poole Explorer 22, which is based on the traditional Poole Canoe. She is an ideal picnic and sunbathing boat for Poole Harbour.
Around 20 crews entered this year’s challenge and braved the icy waters of Poole Quay in front of hundreds of cheering onlookers. Salterns represented by Nick Smith, Martin Geurts, Carl Lioyd and Steve.
Armed with flour bombs and eggs we employed a variety of dirty tricks to try and stay afloat and paddle our way to the finishing line. As is tradition, several of the makeshift vessels failed to even get off the starting line and sank in the first few minutes. In an ironic twist, the stand-by RNLI crew even had to rescue and tow its own team to safety.
Salterns Marina have won the category in this years Loo of the year award, with much thanks to the late great Ernie Orchard.
